1976. In the corridor of a Television edifice, Agnieszka – a film school graduate – convinces an ‘important’ editor of the importance of a film about Mateusz Birkut, a bricklayer and work leader, who’s brilliant carrier ended suddenly and unexpectedly in 1952. After negotiating, the girl finally receives a tape and the necessary tools. She begins her own private ‘investigation’, who’s goal was to determine the reasons for the rise and fall of Birkut. While learning of his dramatic life, Agnieszka discovers and unmasks the bitter truth of the Stalinist 50’s of Poland.
